Who’s Hiring? 8 Organizations Addressing Food Insecurity was originally published on Idealist Careers.
Food is an essential component of life; without it, we cannot survive. But in the U.S. alone, an estimated 14.3 million people are food insecure; globally, 345 million people are facing acute food insecurity.
According to the UN, food insecurity refers to a lack of consistent access to enough high-quality food for an active, healthy life. It’s not enough to ensure food is readily available—it’s also about making sure people can regularly access nutritious and culturally-appropriate foods.
There are countless organizations dedicated to addressing food insecurity on a local and global level, and many of them are currently hiring on Idealist! These nonprofits work to achieve a variety of missions, including raising awareness about world hunger, fighting for and implementing nutrition policies at schools, and staffing and supplying food banks and community kitchens.
