A resume is a marketing tool that summarizes knowledge, skills and experience. It should be well thought-out, targeted, nicely designed, grammatically perfect and succinct. It is a presentation tool aimed at getting you invited to job interviews, and should promote you as a candidate who fits the requirements for a particular organization and/or a particular job description.
CPD recommends that all students create a master resume that includes the past ten years (beyond high school) of experience, education, skills, special training, awards and honors, publications, related coursework, volunteer work, professional and student organization memberships, presentations and skills. From this master resume, we recommend that you create a one- or two-page resume based on the YSE Resume Template. It should be geared towards your main professional and academic interest areas and can be updated as you target applications and all forms of outreach requiring a resume.
For students who will be pursuing only academic or heavy research roles, we provide suggestions and individual reviews for academic CV writing.
