Tasks to be Accomplished:
- Conduct night patrols on the beach to protect nesting turtles and their eggs from poachers and predators.
- Monitor nesting activity and collect data on turtle populations.
- Assist with the relocation of turtle nests to safer areas when necessary.
- Educate local communities and visitors about the importance of turtle conservation.
- Participate in beach cleanups to ensure a safe environment for nesting turtles.
Requirements of the Volunteer/Intern:
- Passion for wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
- Ability to work long hours, including nights, in challenging conditions (e.g., heat, humidity, sand).
- Physical fitness for walking long distances on the beach.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Previous experience in conservation or biology is preferred but not required.
Qualifications and Experience Needed:
- Enrollment in a university program related to biology, conservation, environmental science, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous volunteer or internship experience in conservation is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not required.
