Position Focus:
We are looking for a team member to support the development and delivery of two high-touch, world-class online programs in (1) Environmental Data Science (EDS) and (2) Climate Change Communication (YPCCC). Join our team to help develop the curriculum and program design, faculty and guest expert relationships, and delivery processes to meet the needs of our first year of deployment and beyond.
Supports the design and delivery of online programs in EDS and YPCCC. Role includes creating an enriching experience for participants and supporting cohesive and empathetic team management with the EDS and YPCCC teams. The position requires close coordination among individuals across diverse roles, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to accomplish the tasks.
Program delivery and operations duties include managing online courses delivery enriching the experience for professionals enrolled in the programs. Serving as the primary contact. Handling outbound communications. Performing quality control, testing, and publishing of online modules, coordinating with TAs and Yale staff to resolve issues. Monitoring online forums to ensure a rich and respectful experience, collaborating to promote discussions on course material and social activities. Planning, recruiting, and delivering live sessions with faculty and guest experts and support or organize other online events for cohorts. Supporting the design, coordination, and facilitation of special events. Overseeing the selection, production, publishing, and use of assignments, impact stories, and learner feedback to elevate profiles.
Curriculum redesign duties include inviting and utilizing participant feedback and critically review the existing curriculum with course instructors. Evaluate and design opportunities to integrate knowledge/skills from previous courses into subsequent ones. Work with staff and faculty to update content and exercises, ensure cohesion between courses, outline critical skills and knowledge outcomes, and develop metrics.
Content Production Management duties include participation in faculty and expert outreach, coordinating activities including curriculum development and video production and editing with faculty and guest experts, and Yale departments. Produce course pages in our online learning management platform.
Essential Duties
1. In support of the overall mission, plans, directs and oversees programmatic activities.
2. Develops, implements, and maintains operational policies and procedures.
3. Manages program communications; identifies outreach potential, and promotes philanthropic and collaborative support of the program.
4. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans.
5. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program.
6. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. Develops metrics to identify and measure the success of the program.
7. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications.
8. Develops and manages the program’s operating budget.
9. Manages the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resources including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs.
10. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and two years of related and demonstrated experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
- Professional communications to a diverse group of individuals, including web-authoring.
- Ability to grasp quantitative and qualitative information in the environmental sciences sector and translate it into digestible information for a diverse audience.
- Coordinating work across departments and units, and across functions.
- Demonstrated experience and comfort managing virtual and live events with groups of working professionals.
- Ability to coordinate with staff from YSE and Yale to support administrative efforts such as recruiting, admissions, matriculation, alumni affairs, and other services.
- Ability to calmly manage occasionally large influx of queries related to the fulfilment of academic requirements.
- Support the recruitment and day-to-day supervision of student hires (e.g., teaching assistants, marketing support, summer internships).
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Masters in Education. Demonstrated experience with environmental studies and online learning.
