Professional Associations

CPD highly recommends joining professional associations in your areas of interest. The membership fee is $100/yr for graduate or PhD students. However, there are free resources available to non-members. Membership provides access to news, job and internship postings, mentorship, professional development opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and information on conferences, scholarships, and webinars.

From their website:

We are a network initiated by diverse sustainability professionals aimed at increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of sustainability. We aim to do this by equipping current and future Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) sustainability leaders with the skills, networks and resources to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and just future. We also aim to shift the industry to become more inclusive.

Benefits for student memberships:

  • Access to sustainability career tools – CV/resume feedback from practitioners, discounts to skills and personality inventories, interview help

  • Connect with a community of BIPOC and ally sustainability practitioners and students for advice and mutual support through spaces, our member directory, coffee chats and office hours

  • Get first access to new job, volunteer, research and grant opportunities shared through the network

  • Learn about emerging trends in the sector

  • Masters/PhD students – get access to profile building resources
